The Capsule Crab Snare

A 3D-printed, modern take on the round snare:

– Lead-free weight, adjustable from 6 to 12 oz
– Screw-top opening for easy bait loading
– Glows in the dark to increase catch efficiency
– 6 snare loops

Adjustable Weight

Remove the nut and change the number of washers to adjust the weight. Each snare comes with 7 washers (1.2 oz each) to customize the weight from 6 to 12 oz (configured as 12 oz out of the box).

Lead Free

To avoid lead toxicity, the bolt and nut are made from zinc-plated steel and the plate washers are made from plain steel.

Like all steel (including “stainless” steel), they will rust when abraded by sand in salt water.  Fortunately, these off-the-shelf parts are readily available at your local hardware store.

Easy-Open Bait Cage

No more struggling with bait doors and hooks. Simply unscrew the top, add the bait, and screw the top back on.

The 4.4 cubic inch volume makes efficient use of bait.

Glows in the Dark

Our crab snares glow in the dark with a sky blue color that matches the peak visual spectral sensitivity of crustaceans to enable positive phototaxis.
